About Dr. Hinderland
Board-certified podiatrist Matthew Hinderland, DPM, brings more than a decade of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of both common and complex foot and ankle problems to the Foot and Ankle Institute of Colorado, serving men, women, and families in and around Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Dr. Hinderland spent his childhood in several states, including Arizona, California, and Pennsylvania. He began his professional pursuits at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
He subsequently enrolled at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Hinderland completed a three-year surgical and podiatry residency at Highlands/Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. He also spent several years practicing at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group in Rockville, Maryland, performing the group’s first-ever total ankle replacements.
Dr. Hinderland founded Foot and Ankle Institute of Colorado in 2015. He enjoys helping his patients find relief from foot and ankle pain and works to educate the individuals in his care about maintaining excellent foot and ankle health.
Dr. Hinderland is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in both reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery along with foot surgery. He also underwent advanced training in ankle replacements, arthroscopy, foot and ankle trauma, and deformity correction, including charcot reconstruction.
When he isn’t augmenting his professional skills or working with patients to develop custom treatment plans, Dr. Hinderland enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. They regularly hike, camp, and spend time in the great outdoors.
